WE ACCEPT ANY TYPE OF FORMAT AND CAN RE-PRODUCE ALL FILES
No need to spend enless hours designing a form in Microsoft ™ Word or Excel™ or other non design software. We are competent in all major design software and can prepare files clean and quickly..

NO UPFRONT COSTS
We work with you to get your artwork right. Once you are satisfied with the file, an invoice will be sent to you for settlement prior to production.

PEACE OF MIND
Our committment to you extends all the way to your delivery address. We cover your goods against any physical loss or damage whilst in transit for extra peace of mind.

WHAT OUR PRICING INCLUDES
Some people would lead you to believe numbering, perforation, hard covers and wrap around writing plates is something other companies charge extra. Infact, our books come stardard with all those and are insured to your door. Better still, they are made right here in Australia and by Australians for less than any custom made imported books. The only thing thats costs more are inks other than black which is rarely used for these book types.

SETS PER BOOK
Duplicate Invoice books (Quote or receipt books) are produced in sets of 50's or 100's. Tiplicate invoice books are in sets of 50s. Quadruplicate Invoice, Quote and Receipt books are produced in sets of 50's. Whilst some invoice book printers produce duplicate invoice books in 50's, sets of 100's is more cost effective.

DUPLICATE, TRIPLICATE, QUAD OR QUIN?
What's right for you will depend on how many people will require a copy and what you need to keep on file. For trades people using a quote or invoice book, we recommend triplicates. For example, the first copy for the customer, a second copy for the office (in the event the book is lost) and a third that can stay in the book. That way, you have a copy of all your agreements as a backup.

USING COLOURS
Invoice book printing is normally produced using a single colour but we can also print in two or more colours. For Invoice Books Printed in multiple colours, call or complete our form for a quote. If you choose to use a single colour, we can use different percentages of the ink to create shadows and highlights. ie: Business name can be 100% blue and a shadow can be set at 80%. Printing to the reverse of the pages (ie: terms & conditions) is also possible.

FULL COLOUR BOOKS
Full Colour Carbonless Book Printing is available. Printed CMYK, there are no limits to your design.

PAGE COLOURS & BINDING
We dont bulk run our carbonless books so you can choose the page colours of your invoice, quote, order or receipt books. Page colours available are white, pink, yellow, blue and green. If you prefer to have the top copy other than white, we can do that too. We bind carbonless books using a hard cover which makes them less prone to damage, especially if you are transporting them to job sites or need to store them for a number of years. We alo provide optional Wiro-Bound Books.

PRINT TECHNOLOGY
All books are produced using offset technology on a Heidelberg Press. Our preferred colour system is the Pantone(tm) Colour Matching System. It provides colour consistency and replicates well when you need to re-order.

NUMBERING, PERFORATION & SPECIALTY BOOKS
All books come standard with numbering (unless you choose otherwise) starting with a number of your choice. You can also choose the pages you want perforated. If you need a specilaty item such as skip numbering or multiple views to a page, let us know and we can quote it for you.

PORTRAIT OR LANDSCAPE
We can bind your books on the short or long edge and if you are using in a restaurant environment, we can also glue at the head for easy use.

ARTWORK, PRICES AND TURNAROUND
Artwork is in most cases same day drafts. How quickly we complete the artwork also depends on how quickly you instruct us on changes needed. Once approved, the good we submit to production and your books are ready for delivery within 4-5 day. Express services are also available.
Our quoted prices include gst, delivery and your goods are fully insured during transit against physical loss or damage.

WHERE CARBONLESS BOOKS ARE USED
NCR (No Carbon Required) or carbonless book, is a generic term to describe any document where a duplicate, triplicate, quad or quin copies are created by writing on the top copy and for the information to be duplicated on the lower pages. NCR Corporation invented the carbon free paper over 70 years ago and is still used widely today to collect and to duplicate information.

Often referred to as invoice books, they are also commonly used as quotation books, service books, receipt books, purchase order books, delivery dockets, trust account receipt books, work order forms, confined space tickets, data collection and much more.

Your file or ours, great results either way

More than 70% of work we undertake is for DIY'ers, and some people like to be more involved than others, but it does carry inherent risks. Still, done properly it allows you to have control and experiment until you find something that works for you and if you work with us, we'll make sure your file will give you the best possible outcome. Below we outline some key areas that will help you get off to a good start or to correct with existing artwork. Unfortunately online programs are great for basic artwork but won't carry the same level of power for file and art manipulations you get from programs such as Illustrator™, Corel™, Photoshop™, and InDesign™.

Image Resolution

Typically, print shops will say "we require a minimum 300dpi for images", but what does that mean?

Consider the two images above, both are 300dpi and both pass many online testing software that may evaluate your file prior to production. Clearly, one is not the same as the other and it leads to unwanted results. We check all artwork prior to production by eye, giving you the confidence that errors will be identified before you receive your printed product.

Crop Marks And Bleed

There are several steps that take place before and after your job has been printed. Trimming will remove excess material and ensure your product doesn’t have unwanted white borders, and its finished size matches your order.

Bleed is deliberate printing to the area that will be trimmed out. The trim/crop marks indicate to production where you want your file trimmed. Having no bleed, insufficient bleed, or improperly set trim marks will result in your job being trimmed inaccurately. Our pre-press desk will check your file carefully prior to print.

an image showing RGB colour model consisting of Red, Green and Blue and CMYK, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black.
Colour Models

Digital and offset printers use the CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black) colour model. Too often we see files that have been found or generated on the web. Web files use the RGB (Red, Green, and Blue) model, which creates stunning colours but won’t print the same way.

In the above example, the blue on the left is RGB and looks great on all screens. But, converted and printed in CMYK, you can expect the image on the right. If your file contains any RGB, we will tell you, and we will provide you with a file converted to CMYK so you can make an informed decision.

Linework & Colour Percentages

How thick should I make my lines, and is using percentages of colours possible?

Whilst using percentages can give you some great contrasts, a colour percentage, i.e., 50% black, means the machine will put down fewer dots per square inch (DPI), which leads your brain to see it as grey. But, too low a percentage will look washed out. The real danger in linework, for example, is when a line that works well at 0.1mm using 100% black will appear washed out using 50% black. The same is true for many colours.

For Graphic Designers

Whether you are a seasoned designer or competent in graphic design software, your file will still be reviewed prior to production at no cost to you so you get exactly what you need. For reference, the following is a guide for press-ready/print-ready artwork.

Specifications

  1. If you are presenting double-sided artwork, the file must be two separate .pdf files (i.e., side 1 / side 2).
  2. If you elect for our RIP to interpret your non-CMYK colours, you understand these can sometimes vary greatly from printer to printer.
  3. All files under A1 should have at least 3mm bleeds, and five is preferred. Files larger than A1 should have a 10mm bleed.
  4. Your files must be presented as a .pdf and:
    • All text to Curves/lines.
    • All images 300dpi.
    • .psd files must be flattened.
  5. Please ensure small text is not in CMYK as slight movements may blur your print.
  6. Linework: Unlike offset, very thin lines may not work well on products such as Mesh Banners. Please speak to us directly if unsure.
  7. Registration marks are not required.
  8. All artwork must be 1up. Multiple designs should be presented separately for our press to impose in-house.
  9. All print merge files must be 1up. We will impose your files and, if you elect, a soft proof can be provided.
  10. Magazine covers, front and back should be in spreads with inner pages presented in singles.
  11. For perfect binding, please check with us for gutter sizes which may vary depending on stock.
